Adaptive Learning Academy was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that every child, regardless of their neurobiological profile, deserves an environment where they are seen as capable. We are more than a school; we are a specialized ecosystem in Richmond, TX, designed to support the academic and social-emotional growth of neurodiverse learners.
Our Philosophy
Moving Beyond the "One-Size-Fits-All" Model
Most educational systems ask the child to adapt to the classroom. At ALA, we adapt the classroom to the child. Our philosophy is rooted in Neuro-Affirming Practices, meaning we celebrate cognitive differences rather than trying to “fix” them. By prioritizing sensory regulation and emotional safety, we unlock the door to academic success.

Our team consists of professionals who specialize in Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia, ensuring that your child is supported by experts who understand their unique processing styles.
The Micro-School Advantage
We maintain strictly small class sizes (15 students to 2 teachers). This allows for deep relationship building and ensures no student ever feels “lost” in the crowd.
Collaborative Care
We work closely with our own in-house ABA support team and external therapists such as Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy to ensure that the strategies used at the school are consistent with those used at home and in clinical settings.

Azmae Bhatti
Director of Education
As the founder and Director of Education at Adaptive Learning Academy, my career across private, charter, and public special education has taught me one vital truth: there is no universal timeline for learning. I believe every student deserves an education that prioritizes their unique strengths and fosters independence over rigid systems. This mission is also personal. As a mother of triplets—each developing at their own pace—I know firsthand that comparison is no measure of potential. I founded this Academy to create a community where children of all abilities learn together, ensuring that education adapts to the child, rather than the other way around.
Somy Thomas
Director of Operations
Adaptive Learning Academy was born from my professional experience and my personal journey as a caregiver for my sister and nephew. Supporting them through their milestones revealed the gaps in traditional education and the urgent need for environments where children with diverse abilities are truly understood and valued. As Director of Operations, I’ve seen that when we honor individuality over rigid standards, confidence flourishes. Our school is a community focused on emotional resilience and independence, where children feel safe to grow at their own pace. We partner closely with families to ensure no one walks this path alone. It is an honor to support your child’s unique journey toward success.
Rahul Rajan
Director of Finance
As the Director of Finance at Adaptive Learning Academy and the parent of a nonspeaking child with autism, my work is driven by deep empathy and personal experience. My child has taught me that every milestone is meaningful and that every family deserves a community where their child is fully accepted and understood. With a professional background in healthcare operations across Texas, I’ve seen how the high cost of specialized care can burden families. My goal is to build a sustainable, accessible environment where support never feels out of reach. Adaptive Learning Academy has been a blessing for my family, and I am honored to help make it the same for yours.
